I suppose the number of plush/softie creators must be a lot higher than those who use other materials than cloth for their sculptures. But that is just a wild guess because I have the impression that I happen to see more of these. Another wild guess, even possibly prejudiced and risky, would be that most of them are female. And since soft is something that is also quite often associated with nice many of those toys are very cute. When looking at plush creatures I sometimes feel like I am wading through a pool filled with warm, thick and incredibly sweet molasses. It is good and all that but I keep missing the salt. Or the edge. Or the character. Or the idiosyncrasy. Meet Ping Yu, a Chinese graphic designer living and working in Tokyo and full-time mama, doll-maker as well as etsy-person who produces cute clothy creatures that I really enjoy.
